Privacy policy

Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains in clear and simple language what information we collect when you use BST — Beam Solver Tool ("the Service" or "the Platform"), why we collect it, how we protect it, and what rights are available to you. The principle that guides us is simple: to collect only the minimum required to operate a good, stable and safe educational platform. Use of the Service constitutes consent to this policy.
-
01
What information we collect
- Account details: full name, educational institution and email address — provided at sign up.
- Authentication and log in: log in and session management is performed through an authentication provider (Supabase). The password is stored with the authentication provider in encrypted form and is not exposed to BST.
- Content you created: exercises and solutions you saved in your account.
- Purchase information: subscription status or credit balance and basic transaction details (see "Payments and privacy").
- Basic usage data: operational information required to run the Service (for example the time of the last log in).
-
02
Non-personal technical information
To keep the Platform stable and to improve it, we may collect technical information that does not identify you personally — for example the type of browser and device, the operating system, performance data, and error records (logs). This information helps us locate faults, optimise performance, improve the experience and maintain the security of the Service. It is not used to identify you personally.
-
03
How we use the information
- Providing the Service and saving your exercises.
- Managing the account, purchases and subscriptions.
- Identity verification, security and prevention of misuse.
- Improving, stabilising and adapting the learning experience.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it with third parties for advertising purposes.
-
04
Payments and privacy
Purchases in the Service (credits or subscriptions) are processed through external, secure payment providers. BST does not store raw credit card details on its servers — the payment details are transferred and processed directly by the payment provider, which is subject to its own privacy and security policy. We may keep basic information about the transaction (such as status, amount and date) for the purposes of account management, billing and support.
-
05
Third-party services
We rely on leading infrastructure providers to operate the Service — among others Supabase (authentication and database), Vercel (hosting), and a payment provider for processing purchases. A service for sending operational emails (for example account verification) may also be used. These providers process information in accordance with their own privacy and security policies.
-
06
Local storage in the browser
The Service uses local storage in the browser (Local Storage) to keep the log in session and basic preferences. We do not use cookies for advertising or third-party tracking purposes.
-
07
Sharing information as required by law
We do not share your information with external parties beyond what is described in this policy. However, we may be required to disclose information when this is required by law — for example in response to a court order, a legal obligation, or a legitimate request of a competent authority — or when this is necessary to protect our rights, our users and the security of the Service.
-
08
Data retention and deletion
We keep the information as long as the account is active and as required for operating the Service and complying with legal obligations. You may request at any time the deletion of your account and the accompanying data, and we will handle the request in accordance with the applicable law (see "Contact").
-
09
Information security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the information, including encryption of traffic (HTTPS), permission management in the database, and limiting access to the information to the required parties only. Although we work to maintain a high level of security, no method is completely immune, and therefore we cannot guarantee absolute protection.
-
10
Privacy of minors
The Service is intended for students, learners and adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age at which parental consent is required under the applicable law. If it turns out that such information was collected without appropriate consent, we will act to delete it promptly. Use by minors requires the approval and supervision of a parent or guardian.
-
11
Your rights
In accordance with the applicable law, you may be entitled to review your information, update it, request its deletion or restrict its use. To exercise these rights, contact us and we will handle your request in accordance with the requirements of the law.
-
12
Policy updates
We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Service or in the requirements of the law. An updated version will be published on this page with a new update date, and continued use of the Service after the update constitutes consent to the updated policy.
