We want you to get the most out of BST — and therefore it is important that you understand exactly what the tool is intended for, and what it is not intended for. This statement clarifies the limits of use of the service, and it is an integral part of the Terms of use.

BST is a tool for educational and study purposes only, intended for practising and understanding statics problems. It is not a substitute for professional engineering design or for the approval of a qualified engineer.
  1. 01

What the tool is intended for

BST is meant to help students and learners practise and understand the solution of static beams — reactions, shear forces, moments and axial force — and also to receive educational explanations. The tool is intended for learning and practice, and not for use in design, in construction or in any real-world engineering application.

  2. 02

The tool must not be relied upon for professional purposes

    • The results of BST must not be relied upon for real-world structural design, execution or approval — without review and approval by a qualified professional — or for any engineering decision with safety, economic or legal implications.
    • Every result, calculation or diagram requires independent verification by a qualified engineer and by accepted methods, before any practical use.
    • The tool does not replace professional judgment, standards, building codes or regulatory approvals.
  3. 03

    Accuracy of the results

We strive for accuracy and high quality, but we do not warrant that the results are free of errors, complete or suitable for any specific case. There may be mistakes, limitations of the model, or simplifying assumptions. The responsibility for verifying the validity of the results lies with the user.

  4. 04

Explanations generated with the help of AI

Some of the explanations in the tool are generated automatically, including with the help of artificial intelligence, and may contain inaccuracies, simplifications or errors. They are provided for learning purposes only, and must not be relied upon as a binding professional source.

  5. 05

    No liability for real-world use

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the operator of the service shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental or consequential damage arising from the use of the tool or from reliance on its results — including, without limitation, any use in construction, in design or in an actual structural application. Use of the tool is at your sole responsibility.
